Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Pupil Personnel Services 

The Greenwood Lake Union Free School District is seeking an Assistant Superintendent position to supervise the effective and efficient execution of all instructional programs, both special and regular education, in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and the provisions of the Districts collective bargaining agreements. The successful candidate must demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in special education, including special education law, compliance, and instructional programming, with preference given to candidates who have direct classroom or building-level experience in special education.  This position will report directly to the Superintendent of Schools and assist in the oversight and implementation of programs, assessments, use of data, and staff development for all areas related to instruction and professional learning.  In addition to being able to demonstrate successful leadership experience, the successful candidate will need to be patient, kind-hearted, innovative, and also able to work together with all stakeholders. 

Certification: NYS Certification as District Leader

Term of Employment: 12 months; individual contract to be developed

Substitute School Nurse

Substitute School Nurse

Substitute School Nurse is employed to administer duties during the absence of the regularly employed School Nurse. This is a professional nursing position involving responsibility for giving care to students and for performing related nursing services.  There is no responsibility for either classroom instruction or guidance involved. The work is performed under the general direction of a School Physician or School Administrator. 

DURING THE ABSENCE OF THE REGULARLY ASSIGNED SCHOOL NURSE, THE SUBSTITUTE NURSE MAY PERFORM ANY OF THESE TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: 

  • Assists the School Physician with visual and auditory screening examinations of students and employees; 
  • Administers first aid and emergency treatment to students and employees and may provide one-on-one student nursing care; 
  • Prepares and maintains health records for school authorities; 
  • Arranges to transport sick or injured students or employees to hospital, home, doctor or dentist office in cases of emergency; 
  • Orders, inventories and oversees the storage of first aid and related health supplies and equipment; 
  • Consults with attendance teachers, staff members and teachers concerning a variety of health factors related to non-attendance and communicable disease; 
  • Prepares records and reports as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: 

Good knowledge of nursing principles and techniques and their relation to medical practices and skill in their application; working knowledge of materia-medica, dietetics, sanitation and personal hygiene; skill in the application of nursing techniques and practices; ability to understand and follow technical, oral and written instructions; ability to keep records and make reports; ability to get along well with students, teachers, parents and others; ability to carry out successfully the measures prescribed; good observation; mental alertness; firmness; initiative; cheerfulness; patience; emotional stability; sympathetic attitude toward the sick; good moral character; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Possession of a current New York State professional nurse's registration which must be maintained throughout employment.

  • L.P.N will be considered
$200.00 per day
